About the Aspirational Block Program – NITI Aayog
The Aspirational Block Program (ABP) is a national initiative launched by NITI Aayog and the Government of India in 2022 to accelerate development in India’s most underdeveloped blocks. With a focus on inclusive growth and measurable outcomes, the program identifies backward blocks across the country and drives improvements across five key themes:
- Health & Nutrition
- Education
- Agriculture & Water Resources
- Financial Inclusion & Skill Development
- Basic Infrastructure & Social Development
Paikmal Block in Bargarh District, Odisha, was designated as one of the aspirational blocks in 2022. Since then, the district administration of Bargarh has been proactively working across 39 core indicators under these five themes to uplift the block’s development profile.
