Present: Arran, Nina, Julia, Jane, Alex, Tim

Apologies: Tejala, Helen,

Agenda:

  1. CE / Artefacts conference
  2. Publications progress
  3. Wikibase work
  4. Final Project Meeting with Rebecca (online - 25th Nov/16-19th Dec?)
  5. AOB
    1. Zenodo

Notes:

  1. Response to conference meant it needed to be re-thought. 3 and half days to include everyone. Dana Studio would have been filled with just the speakers and the conference came back initially at 50% over budget due to food. Conference has been re-thought with parallel sessions. Capacity is still potentially an issue. There are some sessions that are not parallel and we need to think about a room for that. Julia looking at hybrid options, and Tim offered a contact that came from the Head of AV at the museum. Potentially expensive. The lecture theatre in the museum is having some work done to it and they could not guarantee it would be available until mid-September which is probably too late. Tim noted that we might be able to use an empty gallery if one of the temporary exhibitions are free. Operations managers likely to be good to speak to, or Angela, the PA in the collections department.

ACTION: Nina has sent Tim a list of all speakers in an email.

  2. Emergent histories book chapter outlines available - ‘Emergent Histories’ book - the Investigations meeting being used today for a planning session. Some technical chapters have not had outlines done yet, for a variety of reasons (other work deadlines and pressures). Alex highlighted that they are likely to be a month or six weeks adrift from the rest of the book timeline. Tim noted that if there is no outline by 9th September, then it is likely we will consider them to not be happening. Good to keep a realistic note of what chapters might not be able to make the deadlines and will be better produced as stand alone articles. Jane noted that this should be emphasised as a possibility in today’s meetings too. Intermediate editing - still need more people. Social Machine book - Emma happy with the revised proposal and it is now out for requesting peer reviewers. Feedback - would like us to think more about the main thematic areas of the book series (use and reuse, access, sustainability + 1 more) and also like the interdisciplinary nature of the work to be surfaced more. Social machine book to have deadlines post Emergent history. Alex B will be doing a re-draft of chapter 1 for mid-September and that will help frame the voice and tone for the rest of the rest of the book. The book is designed to be a collective view. Need to keep in mind that we’ll be peer-review comments back, probably after we’ve written substantial elements of the book (can take up to 3 months). Probably looking at a January deadline for us to finish.

  3. Wikibase update to come to ARPM in two weeks time.

  4. Nina, I am chairing a conference in Hong Kong and will be away 28 November – 10 December. Before I go, and if we do it online, I am free all day on Monday 25 November. After I am back, and preferably if it is online, I flexible 16-19 December. Rebecca.

ACTION: Nina to email dates to ARPM. ARPM has chosen as 16th December - sent to Rebecca

  5. AOB:

    1. Zenodo - AMS has asked for permission to create an account. All okay from our end.
    2. AWS storage for oral histories - is it possible? AR to check Leeds ethics approval and get back to Alex asap.
