Transcriptions for languages with orthography that differs from English (i.e., characters that are not in the 26 letter alphabet) will not export to a CSV appropriately. Instead, random characters will be exported and transcriptions will appear as complete gibberish. Users can use the steps below to open their CSV in a way that will display transcriptions accurately.
Examples of languages that do not use the English alphabet (a.k.a. the Latin alphabet):
For Excel 2007 & 2010
Open Microsoft Excel.
Data-> From Text
Choose the file
In-Text Import Wizard Choose 'Delimited' as 'Original data type'
Choose the UTF-8 from the File-origin List box.
Click Next.
Choose 'Comma' as 'Delimiters'.
Click Next.
Choose 'Text' as 'Column data format' by selecting each column from Data Preview
Click Finish and open in New Work Sheet.
