9.1 Understanding Tasks
Purpose: Tasks represent actions that need to be completed as part of case or contact investigation workflows.
Task Applications:
Tasks in the system can represent three main types of activities:
- Action Items
- Phone calls to arrange
- Follow-ups to schedule
- Documentation to complete
- Approvals required
- Examples: “Call patient tomorrow”, “Schedule home visit”, “Review lab results”
- Patient Actions
- Medical interventions
- Isolation and quarantine periods
- Testing requirements
- Examples:
- “Isolate” (Start: Today, End: +14 days)
- “Quarantine household members” (Start: Contact date, End: +10 days)
- “PCR test on Day 5” (Due: +5 days from onset)
- Survey-Based Data Collection
- Structured interviews
- Data cleaning and review
- Information gathering
- Examples:
- “Complete case interview” (using Case Investigation survey)
- “Conduct contact interview” (using Contact Tracing survey)
- “Data quality review” (using Data Cleaning survey)
Task Components:
- Task Type: Category of task (Interview, Follow-up, Testing, etc.)
- Task Template: Reusable template defining task details
- Due Date: When task must be completed
- Priority: Urgency level (Low, Medium, High, Critical)
- Assignment: Who is responsible
- Survey: Optional structured data collection form
- Status: Not Started, In Progress, Completed, Cancelled
9.2 Task Types
Purpose: Categorize tasks for reporting and workflow management.
Path: Settings → Lookups → Task Types
Fields:
- Name (required, e.g., “Interview”, “Follow-up Call”, “Lab Review”)
