Application Process

(Please read carefully before applying)

  1. Click here to create your online account, then apply for the program (Choose 「2023 Spring Reconnaissance Japan Program (exchange)」)

    *Please refer to this instruction if you have any problems applying for the program.

    ※For the requirement for your photo , you may refer to this URL.

  2. Prepare for the required documents for the application

    <aside> 🔥 In the past years, there were many students’ applications which were cancelled due to their late submission of the following documents. Please make sure to prepare the documents at least 3 weeks before the deadline. ・Passport ・Certificate of Guarantor's annual income ・Medical Forms&Immunization Form


  3. Submit Medical Form A and Medical Form B

  4. After everything is submitted, check your application status to make sure that your application is complete.

    *If a significant period of time has elapsed and your status is not complete, please write to inbound@obirin.ac.jp and ask about your status.

    *If your application progress is at 92%, it means you have finished your part of application.

  5. If your application is successful, you will receive an official acceptance email and letter from JFOU.

  6. Students, including those from our partner schools, have to pay the student service fee i.e. 20,000yen in order to complete the application after receiving the CoA. If the payment has not been finished, no CoE(Certificate of Eligibility for Status of Residence) will NOT be issued. ※Fees once paid are not returnable/refundable

  7. CoE (Certificate of Eligibility) will be sent to you about one month before the semester starts so that you can apply for a student visa through your Japanese embassy or consulate.

    ※For self-funded students, the CoE will be mailed directly to their home address while for exchange students, the CoE will be mailed to their home universities. ※CoE will be sent by EMS uniformly - no request for shorten delivery period will be accepted.

  8. Upload your flight plans on form provided by JFOU approximately four weeks before departure.

    *You should buy a flight ticket only AFTER receiving your CoE (Click here to see the reasons)
