This semester, I will be focusing on generating prototypes for playful, physical + digital experiences.
My primary goal would be to explore interactions and how physical + digital interactions can contribute towards play.
My secondary goal would be to find ways to generate ideas and break out of my typical ways of doing so. This would be useful for future creative endeavors, and also for kickstarting myself out of boredom.
Idea Generation Plan 1
Day 1: Wearable Antennae
Day 2: Morphing Faces
Day 3: Jello Interface
Day 4: Virtual Jello
Day 5: Shape Detection
To summarize my key learning points:
- to sense physically, a sense of touch is important.
- touch sensations, such as proximity and bounciness convey important information
- there are usually colors associated with playfulness, as in the case of the balloons and jello
- virtually, a sense of touch can be simulated by the reactions of the material to interaction
- there are many methods in computer vision for tracking of objects
