UXA kicked off XHacks with an Opening Ceremony that revealed the theme, Design with AI, of the hackathon gave participants a chance to hear from keynote speaker, Professor John Zimmerman, in his talk about Design Innovation of AI Products and Services.
Key notes from our Keynote speaker 🤩
- 🤔 There is an innovation gap in which data science teams envision services that no one wants while design teams envision services that no one can build
- 💠Designers often misunderstand the capabilities of AI and don’t connect what AI can do to how AI does what it does
- 💨 When working with AI, designers can benefit from thinking of AI as something that can work very fast, handle a large amount of data, and isn’t very smart
- 👀 There are opportunities to build value with AI if model performance does not need to be very high and can be paired with medium levels of intelligence
