What was done

1. Pre-flight paths + CANONICAL.md verified; no drift.
2. Step 0 stale-staging check (above).
3. Captured disk state; verified all scan roots and both 3A staging dirs exist.
4. Ran monthly_dedupe_run.py on the real FS: 40,907 files walked, 5,197 size-collision candidates MD5'd, 0 hash failures.
5. Step 2b always-on empty-folder cleanup (rmdir-only): 3,055 empty dirs removed, logged to empty-folder-cleanup-2026-06-08.log.
