What was done

Captured pre-cleanup disk + Trash snapshot, emptied Trash (2.8 MB), then cleared 15 safe, regenerable caches by removing and recreating each directory so daemons repopulate cleanly. A defensive guard skipped any Photos / Music / Contacts path.

Reclaimed: 11.75 GB (11.20 GiB) of cache. Boot-volume available moved 111.1 GiB → 116.5 GiB (df shows +5.6 GB; the gap vs 11.75 GB is open file handles and purgeable/snapshot space on a live system, not an error).

Top 5 bloated caches cleared:

• CloudKit (iCloud sync) — 6,950 MB
• Google Chrome HTTP cache — 1,633 MB
• VS Code CachedExtensionVSIXs — 827 MB
• ms-playwright — 534 MB
• com.apple.textunderstandingd — 301 MB

Also cleared: manus-updater, SiriTTS, Comet, GeoServices, pip, com.apple.python, node-gyp, Homebrew, VS Code Cache + CachedData.

Preserved: com.apple.Music (332 MB); Photos/Contacts (none present in Caches); claude-cli-nodejs (53 MB) intentionally left to avoid disrupting other active coding agents.

Why the session ended

Completed — all routine tasks finished. No blockers.

QA reflection

• Clean: all 15 targets cleared to 0 (CloudKit began re-syncing immediately, expected); Trash emptied; protected-path guard worked; warning logic evaluated (no flag).
• No errors. ShipIt updater caches self-cleaned to 13 MB / 0 since last run — not worth a target slot.
• Unexpected growth: CloudKit at 6.95 GB is now the dominant cache (was not top-5 on 2026-05-17). ~7 GB of iCloud-backed cache in two weeks — safe to clear but worth attributing if it stays >6 GB. textunderstandingd (301 MB) and SiriTTS (268 MB) are new near-top entrants — Apple Intelligence / Siri on-device caches, normal.
• Next week: no threshold change needed (30 GB warning stays). Method (recreate-empty-dir) worked well; keep it.
