Effective Date: April 19, 2026
Privacy Policy
CarNote processes information only to the extent necessary to provide vehicle management features. CarNote does not require membership registration and does not operate a separate cloud account. Vehicle and record data entered by users is generally stored locally on the user's device. However, external SDKs may process certain device information and advertising-related information to provide ads and manage advertising consent.
1. Information Processed
The app may process the following types of information:
- Vehicle information entered directly by the user: vehicle name, nickname, model year, fuel type, and base mileage
- Record information entered directly by the user: expenses, fueling, charging, maintenance history, notes, dates, and mileage
- App settings information: language settings, notification preferences, home tip status, and similar settings
- Advertising and consent-related information: advertising identifiers, device and app information, consent status, ad impressions/responses, and diagnostic information
- If personal information is included in titles or notes entered directly by the user, that content may also be stored on the device.
2. Purposes of Processing
The processed information is used only for the following purposes:
- Storing and viewing records by vehicle, and providing monthly statistics and maintenance cost analysis
- Calculating maintenance cycles, displaying upcoming maintenance timing, and providing maintenance notifications
- Performing features requested by the user, such as CSV export and sharing
- Displaying ads, confirming advertising consent, determining whether to serve non-personalized ads, and performing ad diagnostics
3. Collection Methods
Information is processed through the following methods:
- Information directly entered or selected by the user on screens such as vehicle registration, record creation, and settings
- Permission settings from the device operating system, such as notification permission and tracking permission
- Information automatically processed by advertising SDKs and consent management SDKs while the app is running
4. Retention Period and Deletion
CarNote does not transmit vehicle or record data entered by users to the developer's server. Such data is stored in the local SQLite database on the user's device.
- Vehicle information, records, and settings information are stored on the device until the user deletes them directly or resets app data from the More menu.
- When the app is deleted, app data is generally removed according to the operating system's policies.
- Files exported as CSV may remain in the device cache or in the storage location selected by the user, depending on the user's sharing or saving choice.
- The retention period for advertising and consent-related information depends on the policies and operating environment of the relevant external service providers.
5. Third-Party Services and Possible International Processing
The app developer does not collect, sell, or provide vehicle or record data entered by users to third parties through the developer's own server. However, the following external services may process relevant information to provide app features:
- Google Mobile Ads SDK / Google User Messaging Platform: ad delivery, advertising consent management, ad request processing, and diagnostics
- Apple or Google platform features: notification permission, tracking permission, share sheet, and integration with operating system settings
- In the course of using advertising and consent features, certain information may be processed through Google's infrastructure outside the user's country or region. For more details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Optional Permissions
The permissions below are optional. Even if these permissions are denied, most core record-keeping features can still be used.
- Notification permission: Used to send maintenance notifications and display notifications in the app.
- Tracking permission: May be used for ad personalization and ad performance measurement-related processing.
7. User Rights and Controls
Users can manage their information at any time.
- Users can delete locally stored app data through the data reset feature in the More menu.
- Users can change notification permission and tracking permission in the device settings.
- If an advertising consent message is provided, users can choose whether to consent on that screen.
- The CSV export feature works only when directly initiated by the user, and the user's choice of sharing destination is made under the user's responsibility.
8. Contact and Policy Changes
This Privacy Policy applies from April 19, 2026. If the policy changes, notice may be provided through in-app documents or app store notices.
- Privacy-related inquiries may be submitted through the developer contact information displayed in the app marketplace or through a separately published contact channel.
- If actual operating information changes, the contact information and notice details in this document may also be updated accordingly.
