Deal Pipeline
Closed one deal this week: docs signed and funds wired to founder.
A number of deals in pipeline last week decided to pause or delay fundraising. Some have also been non-responsive. If I didn’t hear back in a week, I changed the deal status to paused.
2 deals are almost ready to publish this coming week (8/8-8/12). We may publish 2 more if we can complete launch items in time. We did not require $80k in soft commits as a requirement to publish these upcoming 4 deals. They are grandfathered under our previous strategy of prioritizing member referrals.
We’ve launched a Slack bot that can collect and display non-binding soft commits. This bot directly supports our new deal sourcing strategy for all deals:
See the How to use DealBot guide. I’ve also included a visualization of usage to date.
Date | Subscribers | Change from Previous |

8/7/22 | 1249 | -8 |
7/31/22 | 1257 | -13 |
7/24/22 | 1270 |
The membership trend is concerning. I believe our new deal strategy and DealBot launch should help us return to growth.
No change from last week. See the OpenCollective page for more detail. I’m looking for a good solution to chart our OpenCollective contributions
