PROJECT GAIA

Project Gaia is an interdisciplinary, remote research and development (R&D) initiative under the STEMONEF-COMMUNITY. It is designed to bring together a cohort of dedicated individuals to collaboratively investigate and propose actionable, scientifically rigorous solutions to climate change. With a strategic target to contribute to the UN Climate Conference 2026, this initiative emphasizes system thinking, data modeling, and climate-policy interfacing through collaborative, peer-driven work.

VISION: To build a globally distributed climate research ecosystem that blends scientific depth, interdisciplinary collaboration, and systems-level thinking to drive impactful and implementable contributions toward climate resilience.

MISSION: To produce high-quality research outputs, models, and white papers that reflect thorough solutions to climate challenges by leveraging a diverse pool of researchers, data scientists, and policy thinkers.

RESEARCH TRACKS: Researchers shall work in small, agile teams on the following proposed research tracks:

● Climate Data Analytics

○ Time-series forecasting of emissions and temperature ○ Geospatial analysis of climate hotspots

● Policy Mapping & Frameworks

○ Comparative policy review aligned with SDGs ○ Modeling systems-level impact of international climate agreements

● Sustainability & Systems Design

○ Circular economy frameworks ○ Resilient infrastructure modeling

● Technology & Climate Interfaces

○ Quantum computing for sustainability modeling ○ AI-driven climate risk assessment tools

R&R: Researchers may take up one or more of the following roles:

Literature Analyst: Synthesizing and reviewing peer reviewed research;

Model Developer: Developing data pipelines or simulation models; ● Policy Researcher: Analyzing frameworks and impact pathways ● Citation Manager: Organizing bibliographic resources ● Lead Writer: Drafting research papers and briefs

Other Relevant Areas: Anything of significance with the continual evolution of the R&D process.

Disclaimer: This is an impact-driven, volunteer-based research collaboration intended for educational, advocacy, implementation and publication purposes only. All work done under the project will be the proprietary work under the STEMONEF umbrella, with due credits to individual contributions. Having said that, participation does not constitute formal employment or internship under STEMONEF. That will be gauged and thereby constituted on the basis of the individual’s service in term.
