The nature of scientific theory has been the central issue in philosophy of science. In his recent book, The Logic in Philosophy of Science, Hans Halvorson applies category theory to elucidates some of the key concepts and questions like theoretical equivalence, (anti)realism, theoretical reduction, supervenience, etc. This semester we resume reading from chapter 4. Those who wish to take this course from this semester are encouraged to contact the instructor beforehand.

Each week we will read 10 to 20 pages of the textbook. Every student must read the text, note down comments and questions, and prepare for discussion. We assign one student for each week who is responsible for leading the discussion. Depending on the size of the class, students may need to make more than one presentation.
