In 1921 A. S. Neil, a Scottish writer and rebel, founded the alternative 'free' school called Summerhill School. It was part of the democratic schools movement internationally blossomed at that time. John Burningham who wrote "John Patrick Norman McHennessy" went to Summerhill School. Children in Summerhill have the freedom to decide their own school life. They even have the right not to attend the class. Whatever they do, teachers do not restrain them. However, responsibility always comes with freedom. That is the reason why there are over 400 rules and related penalties that all members should observe.

Around 100 members including children, teachers, house parents, and other staff live together inside the school. They happily go along with their lives. Freedom often triggers troubles among members. They can do anything without limit but their behaviors should not disturb or harm to others. They open the meeting three times a week. The meeting is in a high hierarchy in the school. All members have the right to raise the issues with no priority to the elder or something else. Everyone has equal opportunity to speak and vote for or against agenda in the meeting. In the meeting, they deal with what happened, who broke the rule and check facts. It is not important why they broke the rules and how to solve or address the issues. They only impose the appropriate penalties who breached the rules. By joining the meeting actively, they learn how to deal with the troubles and have ability to share their emotions in the community. With imposing penalties to whom breach the rules, they feel that the justice has realized in the community.

In our society unprecedented incidents have occured such as murder in PC room. The family who has lost their loved son want to punish the murders correctly. The case implicates the importance and emergency to overhaul our educational system.I just want to be one of the wintnesses that real justice and democratic become true.
