2.1 Understanding Jurisdictions

Purpose: Hierarchical geographic boundaries for case assignment and reporting

Key concept: System supports up to 5 jurisdiction levels. Only configured jurisdiction types display in forms.

Common hierarchies

• Level 1: Country
• Level 2: State/Province
• Level 3: Local Health District (LHD) / Public Health Unit (PHU)
• Level 4: Local Government Area (LGA)
• Level 5: Suburb / Postcode

Example: Case assigned to NSW → Hunter New England LHD → Newcastle LGA → Suburb of Mayfield

2.2 Setting Up Jurisdiction Types

Purpose: Define what each of the 5 jurisdiction fields represents
