[Comments on the Community meeting this Thursday. Rough agenda. Things to contemplate beforehand.]
This morning I wanted to talk and then practice “attention”
It’s a radical notion to suggest that we can actually determine what we put our attention to. In our distracted world, with devices and apps all vying for our attention, we often feel like the days go by just bouncing between work, entertainment, chores, and humans we have to deal with.
Just remembering that actually each of those places that we focus on is actually our choice, is empowering. And by focusing on one thing, we are explicitly not choosing to focus on many other things.
At Mindful Aware, we work on two kinds of attention - a deep, body centered, one pointed attention and a broad, expansive, relaxed, open, environmental attention.
We train, we practice, to build muscles in both of those areas, so we are capable and confident in doing both kinds of attention. And in fact, we work on combining them.
Why is this important? What we pay attention to is literally how we live.

Now let’s try it… 80%, 50%. 20%
