It is the 3d millennium. The solar system is "The System".
The "Long War" is over. The people of the System are tired. They just want to have fun and play.
Its post-war leadership is a Triumverate: The "Fosters", The Delegates and The Lightmakers.
The "Fosters" are the latest iteration of A.I., The Delegates are the representatives and administrators, The Lightmakers are the builders of the 'Verse - the Infrastructure and Metaverses of the System. The "Whole'Verse" are the collective Metaverses of the System.
The Fosters determined that the best use of the surviving post-war infrastructure of the System would be the "Great Upload".
There would be a "Great Upload" for creating a completely virtual society.
During the peace of the post Long War, post-war society is focused on fun, escape and entertainment.
"The Verse", is where many seek pleasure and adventure. Society has retreated from its nomadic adventurist impulses.
The rise of "Expees", "Experiences", and an emerging celebrity class of creators, are nurtured by the Triumverate as part of its post-ware "Great Upload" plan.
One creator of Expees, from Jupiter, has been discovered to be among the best of the Renderers.
She has unusual talent to create and participate in multiple experiences with a depth and detail, rivaling the top "Virtuals", code-based renderers.
Her name is Elena Firmina May.
