Through collective efforts and mentorship, it builds resilience and promotes community solidarity. The project empowers vulnerable groups with the knowledge and resources to break the cycle of poverty and achieve long-term socio-economic independence.
Project History
The idea for empowering single mothers, disadvantaged youths, and widows through vegetable gardening was born out of the growing need to address poverty, food insecurity, and unemployment among vulnerable groups in our community. In 2024, a small pilot initiative was launched with ten women who were trained in organic gardening techniques and supported with basic farming tools and seeds. The success of this pilot – seen in improved household nutrition and increased income – inspired the expansion of the project. Over time, partnerships with local agricultural experts and community leaders have strengthened the initiative, making it a promising model for empowerment and sustainability.
Project Mission
To empower vulnerable women and youths through sustainable vegetable gardening for improved livelihoods, food security, and economic self-reliance.

With your microdonation, we plan to support 20 vulnerable individuals, single mothers, disadvantaged youths, and widows by providing them with seeds, basic gardening tools, and training in organic vegetable farming. This will enable them to start small home or community gardens to grow vegetables for consumption and income. The funds will also help set up demonstration plots for practical learning and peer support. By the end of the program, participants will have the knowledge, resources, and confidence to sustain their gardens, generate income from produce sales, and improve food security for their families and community.

True Story:
Venesa Munge is a 28 year-old single mother of two, lost her husband during the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. With no steady income and two hungry mouths to feed, she struggled daily to provide even one meal for her children. When she joined our vegetable gardening program in 2024, she had never touched a hoe before. Through our training, she learned how to grow tomatoes, okra, and green vegetables on a small piece of land behind her home. With the first harvest, not only did she feed her family with fresh, nutritious food, but she also sold the surplus at the local market. The income helped her buy school supplies and clothes for her children for the first time in two years. Vanessa now teaches three other women in her neighborhood, proudly calling herself “Mama Farmer.” Her story of resilience and renewal continues to inspire the entire community.
