<aside> πŸ’ 12in12 is a challenge to make 12 prototypes in 12 months. It’s a way for us to develop our creative and technical skills through rapid prototyping. We want to create a habit of deliberate practice and experimentation. This will help us grow as game makers.

Our Process

πŸ‘‰ Intention: Create a clear intention for your prototype at the beginning of the month.

πŸ‘‰ Production: Spend the month working through your prototype based on its intention.

πŸ‘‰ Reflection: At the end of the month reflect on the process and prototype based on the initial intention.

We will meet at the beginning of each month to present the previous month's prototypes, reflect on them, and to set our intentions for the new prototype.

FAQs

Do I have to do every month?

No. Try one month out. Skip another. Your call.

Can I work on one game through out the year and have different things I'm working on each month?

No. We're here to focus on rapid prototyping with different ideas.

Is 12in12 only for making games or can I make whatever I want?

Depends. It should be game-related, like exploring a mechanic, some tech solution, or whatever. It doesn't have to be a full-on game, though, that would be tough to do every month.

I only saw this now, and already missed the beginning of 12in12. Can I still join?

You can join any time, it doesn't have to be January to December, as long as you still aim to make 12 prototypes in 12 months.

Do I have to post publicly about my monthly experiments?

You can, but you don't have to. Ship it if you're proud.
