Before we dive in, make sure you’re set up so class runs smoothly. TouchDesigner needs to be installed and linked to your own account, so please do this ahead of time. Bring your laptop with the software ready to go, and if you can, a three-button mouse will make patching way easier (they’re cheap and super useful).

1. Download TouchDesigner
2. Make an account on Derivative. Please make one on your own time and not on the school Wi-Fi. If you’re in school, use your phone data to sign up to an account. If too many students sign up at the same time you might be locked out of making a new account.
3. Bring your laptop to class with TouchDesigner installed (mandatory).
4. Bring a three button mouse (not mandatory but will make your life easier. They should be relatively affordable like this one priced at around 11 SGD.

What is TouchDesigner?

• A visual programming environment for creating real-time interactive visuals.
• Used in live shows, installations, interactive art, and generative design.
• Instead of typing code, you connect nodes (operators).
