To Create an AWS Account, I need;

• An Email Address
• An Organization Name or Account Name
• AWS Free Tier

Steps To Take When Creating an AWS Account

Step 1:

1. Search AWS Free Tier on Google

   

2. Click on Create a Free Account

   

3. Input your email address

4. Create a Username for your AWS Account

5. Verify your email address: By copying the token that was sent to your email and paste it in the dialogue box on your AWS Account.

6. Create Password and Retype Password

7. Click Verify and Continue to Step 1 ot of 5

Step 2:

1. Fill your contact information.

   Nb: To use an organizaton, you must have an organizational name. Otherwise,

   • Select personal project

     

   • Fill in your details

   • Select agree and continue to step 2 of 5

2. Set up your billing information (Credit or Debit Card with a balance of at least $1)

   • Click to verify your card
   • Input your phone number for verification.
   • Confirm your identity.

3. Sign up for AWS

   • Select Basic Support Free
   • Complete sign up

   Nb:

   • You’ve successfully created an AWS Account
   • Next; You’ll receive 3 emails,
     1. Verification code. 2. Getting started resources. 3. Details about the AWS Package you subscribed to.

4. Click on Go to the AWS Management Console.

   You’ll now see that you have access to your AWS dashboard

5. Click on your account name at the top right corner and go to your account (Account Information)

   

   • Select Account
   • Edit your Account id to a name of your choice.

6. Sign out and Sign in back into your account.

   • Nb: when trying to sign in, you would be prompted to sign in using IAM user.
   • Scroll down and select sign in using root user email. (Root User Accont)
     • When open, select root user
     • Then input email address previously used
     • Input the root user password previously used
     • Go to email and check verification code. Copy and input the code, then veify and continue.

Step 3:

1. Go to the search dialogue box and search for IAM

   • Select IAM (manage access to AWS resources) from the search result.

     

2. When you’re in IAM interface, Select Add MFA (MultiFactor Authentication)

   • MFA Device name - Example: Root-MFA
   • Select Authenticator App and click next
   • Download Google Authenticator app on your mobile phone from Playstore or Apple Store
   • Scan QR Code or Show Secret Key (in AWS Console)
   • Enter Code from Google Authenticator App
   • Wait 30 seconds and enter a second code from Google Authenticator App
   • Select Add MFA to complete.
   • Nb: Adding MFA secures rootuser account.

Step 4: Final Step

Log out and Log in.

• Nb: When trying to log in, you’ll be requested to put MFA code. Do that and click sign in,
