Recommended Best Practices Crowdfunding Success
PREPARATION FOR THE CAMPAIGN
- Campaigns don’t fail on day 30, they fail before you launch if the prep isn’t there.
- Create a defensible budget before you launch your crowdfunding campaign
- You want it to feel inevitable — like “woo! it’s finally here!”
- Plan a drip of information before you even begin — giving more people the opportunity to take notice before they see your campaign. (People have to see something 7-27x before they take action on the call to action.)
- Create videos for the campaign, don’t pitch with stills.
- 30 day campaign length typically works best
MESSAGING DURING THE CAMPAIGN ITSELF
- People don’t back projects, they back feelings. What feeling are you instilling with every piece of content/mktg/email?
- There’s no difference between how you approach a crowdfunding campaign vs. how you approach your film’s story // Transpose the feeling you feel about the story to the campaign itself — take that overall WHY into the campaign
- DESPERATION IS A TRAP!
- Instead: talk about how this story needs to be told, why this story is meaningful to a particular group of people
- Tone > Concept (Feelings > Story Specifics)
- Start building & use crowdfunding success cases from ND50 to build credibility for your ND50 campaign
- MAKE SUCCESS VISIBLE — every action you take is proof ofn inevitability
