Recovery keys define how the identity can be recovered if devices are lost.

• Can be:
  • hardware devices
  • trusted people (social recovery)
  • institutional guardians (e.g. notary, bank, DAO)
• Also committed into the state via recovery_key (or a Merkle root of multiple guardians)

The recovery scheme can evolve over time, but every change creates a new state_commitment.
